Martin W. Schiffmiller

MARTIN W. SCHIFFMILLER, was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 29, 1952. He is admitted to the bar of New York (1980) and several federal district and appellate courts, and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He has been a member of the firm since 1984.

Mr. Schiffmiller graduated from Yeshiva University (B.A. 1973) and New York University Law School (J.D., 1979), where he was on the staff of the Law Review. He is the author of “Human Pharmaceuticals, Patents and the FDA” which appeared in the Food Drug Cosmetic Law Journal in February 1980 and was reprinted in the Intellectual Property Law Review in 1981.

Mr. Schiffmiller has extensive experience in a wide range of intellectual property areas, including the prosecution of patent and trademark applications both domestically and internationally; the licensing of patents, trademarks and copyrights; inter-partes trademark proceedings in the USPTO; and searching, counseling, enforcement and litigation regarding intellectual property rights.

Lisa A. Pieroni

LISA A. PIERONI was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 15, 1960. She is admitted to the bars of the State of New York, the Southern and Eastern District Courts of New York (1991) and the Federal Circuit (1991). She has been a member of the firm since 1996.

Ms. Pieroni graduated from Adelphi University (B.S., MCL, 1982) and Hofstra University School of Law (J.D., 1990) where she was the Managing Editor of the Hofstra Property Law Journal, 1989-1990. Ms. Pieroni attended St. George's University School of Medicine from 1984 through 1986 before attending law school.

Ms. Pieroni’s trademark practice includes the preparation and prosecution of trademark applications both domestically and internationally, searching and determining the availability of new trademarks in both the U.S. and internationally, enforcement and infringement of trademarks and licensing with a concentration in consumer products such as fragrance and cosmetic products, apparel and footwear, handbags and leather goods, jewelry, pharmaceutical products and medical devices, in addition to hospitality and restaurant services. Ms. Pieroni also has experience with inter-partes matters before the U.S. Trademark Office.

LINDA MCGARVEY joined the firm in 2013 after working at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP for over 20 years. Ms. McGarvey works directly with Lisa Pieroni as a paralegal where she assists in the preparation and filing of trademark applications, overseeing Ms. Pieroni’s trademark docket, filing of pre and post registration documents with the U.S. Trademark Office, and communicating with clients, attorneys, associates and agents in connection with trademark matters both domestically and internationally.

DEBORAH EGAN has been with the firm for over 40 years. Ms. Egan works directly with Martin Schiffmiller as a paralegal overseeing Mr. Schiffmiller’s trademark and patent dockets, including the preparation and filing of trademark applications, filing of pre- and post-registration documents with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, trademark searching and clearance, and communicating with clients, attorneys, associates and agents in connection with trademark and patent matters both domestically and internationally.
